RESOLUTION

HP has provided the following work around for HP-UX 11iv2 & 11iv3.

A non-root user on the HP-UX 11iv2 & 11iv3 system can exploit the “pppoec”
utility due to its access permissions.

Until the official fix for the issue is released, HP recommends the following
workaround be applied to avoid any misuse of the pppoec utility.

Make sure that the /usr/bin/pppoec is executed by root user. Unset the “s”
bit of the “pppoec” utility.

The command used to unset the “s” bit is as follows.
# /usr/bin/chmod u-s /usr/bin/pppoec

Note: On HP-UX 11iv2, /usr/bin/pppoec utility will not be available by
default. Hence take above action only if /usr/bin/pppoec file is available.

MANUAL ACTIONS: # /usr/bin/chmod u-s /usr/bin/pppoec
